OK peep's tell me something: when I go to open weapons def file to modify it open with note pad do my thing to but when I go to save the file it says access denied.Why does it do that anybody know?

It could be the file is write-protected. It's happened to me once or twice that a file that I archived on an optical medium would still be write-protected after copying it back off the disc.

WinXP also has different permissions for who can do what to which file on computers with more than one user account on it, and I highly doubt Win7 or Win8 are different.

Right-click the file and check the properties.
