Med not working
Page 1 of 1 • Share
I haven't noticed any problems.
Well I done a un-install deleted nova logic folder and I re-installed game again and opened my game all my maps was still there. It should have deleted them to right, the only thing I didn't do was re-start computer after un-installing game should I do that before re-installing?
Why did I think I had replied to your last post?
You have to make sure that when you start any executable involved with DFBHDTS, you run it as administrator!
If you don't run the game or the MED as admin, Windows will not allow new files to be made or existing files to be altered.
Start Windows Explorer, click the View tab, activate the "Show hidden elements" checkbox, and navigate to this folder:
"C:\Users\[YOUR USER NAME]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\NovaLogic\Delta Force Black Hawk Down"
I bet that's where those maps you thought you deleted actually are on your hard drive.
That's a Windows security measure. New files made by the game and the MED are shunted there. Altered copies of existing files will also be here. It's very confusing for the dfbhd.exe.
Again, run the installers as admin, and run the game and the MED as admin.
And I'm sorry it took this long to answer.

I would transfer everything in that folder that you want to keep to the default game folder, then delete the NovaLogic folder in the VirtualStore folder.
Back in the default game folder:
That should fix this situation. It works for me, at least. I don't think a reinstallation is necessary.
Back in the default game folder:
- Right-click on the dfbhd.exe, then click on "Properties"
- Choose the Compatability tab, then activate the "Run as admin" checkbox
- ClÃck "OK" or "Apply"
- Do the same thing for the dfbhdlc.exe and the dfbhdmed.exe
- If you have installed mods that include improved game and MED executables, they will also need to run as admin
That should fix this situation. It works for me, at least. I don't think a reinstallation is necessary.

Hi, LW, I just saw your PM. I discovered that the MED crashes on the latest Windows 10, except for one MED version. Try to find and use the unlocked MED v2.05c, this one seems to work okay on my system.
I'm also using Win10. All the various DFBHD and mod .exes are working fine on my crate.
I really wish I knew what I'm doing right.
Ooh! Wait! It might be that you need to give the shortcuts themselves admin rights!
I'm assuming you've already set the .exes to run as admin.
Try this with the DFBHD icon on the desktop:
If the icon is on your taskbar, right-click it to open a list of options above it, then right-click the icon in that list, then click properties to proceed as described above.
We're all fans of a crotchety old game, fellas, and this extra work is the price of that fandom. I think it's worth it.

Try this with the DFBHD icon on the desktop:
- Right-click on the desktop shortcut, then click "Properties." This should open to the "Shortcut" or "Link" tab automatically (my system is in german). If not, then go to that tab.
- On the lower-right is a button labeled "Advanced" or "Expanded" ("Erweitert..." in german). Click on that.
- In the "Advanced Properties" (?) window, activate the "Run as admin" checkbox. (My system displays an explanation of that checkbox right beneath it.)
- Click the various necessary "OK" buttons, then give it a try.
- Repeat this process for all the various shortcuts.

Check your DirectPlay settings.
Apparently MS did an update and turned it off by default
Right click the windows start menu icon and click "Search"
Type "turn windows feature on or off" and click "Turn Windows feature on or off" below "Best match"
Scroll down to "Legacy Components"
Click the "+" to the left of "Legacy Components"
Put a Tick in the box next to "DirectPlay"
Click OK and a window will appear, click close when done.

MED FIX 2018 (BHD/C4/JO/DFX)
If you've been having issues launching the BHD / C4 / JO Med (Or any other NovaLogic med) recently, Sil and I have found a fix for it.
Download the NovaLogic Med Fix from NovaHQ below, extract the two files and run the "RunMe.bat" file. This will install a set of compatibility flags for the mission editors to help them run properly under Windows 10 1703+.
Thanks to everyone that has posted information they have found that lead to this discovery.
